As the night unfolds, we’ll conclude our adventure in a Mezcaleria, a venue dedicated to the ancient and intriguing spirit known as mezcal so you will understand the difference between mezcal and tequila. Visit little taco places that you never would think to try. We loved the tour. It was very informative. The food was great. Paula took us to places that we would've never known about or tried. If you have the chance, we definately recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.

A “Taste” of Mazatlan The cooking class was great & Paola was lovely. Along with the hands on prepping, cooking & eating we learned some of the cultural traditions surrounding both Mazatlan & Mexico in general. I would have liked to learn how to make the traditional corn tortillas which is a staple in the Mexican daily cuisine.

Best cooking class in Mazatlan Paola, is an experienced chef who shares amazing information about how and where the ingredients grow throughout Mexico. The chili class was so fun and full of flavor. I would recommend this to everyone. I look forward to joining her for another class.

An essential experience in Mazatlan if, like us, you love it here This was our fourth experience with Paola, and it gets better every time. A class or tour with Paola is a must every time we come to Mazatlan! We didn’t think she could top our last experience, but she did! Don’t pass up a chance to experience her knowledge and experience about the culinary history of Mexico and particularly, Mazatlan. She always surprises us with something new and interesting. We consider her our friend in Mazatlan that we always visit when we are here.

Fantastic and tasty experience! We lucked out and it was just the two of us. Paola was a superb guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about food. We had five stops that were all unique and fresh. As a chef and former restaurant owner she really knows her stuff. We also really enjoyed the city tour aspect and learned a lot about local history and culture. We have been lucky to do food tours around the world and this was one of the best. Highly recommend this experience!

Local and fresh... Paola was amazing...she provides a nice mix of delicious food with some city and cultural history! She surprised us with a tour of a local shrimp factory, where we saw the simple process from ship to shipment. The food was a nice mix of traditional and all was fresh. Thanks Paola...can't wait for our next trip and tour.

A dive into Mazatlan cuisine Paola is a great chef and is so knowledgeable about Mexican cuisine and ingredients, as well as the history of Mazatlan and how that has influenced its cuisine. A trip to the market with her was a delight, as we learned about ingredients and how to use them. And the cooking class afterwards was fun and relaxing. And so delicious! I will take more classes or tours with her for sure next time I'm in Mazatlan.

A great Food Experience Paola taught us about the history of food in Mexico. It was so interesting to learn about why we use certain ingredients and where they came from. She was well prepared and chose dishes that were delightful. She made excellent food seem easy. I would go back in a minute. It’s well worth your time.

Paola's Tomatl Tours and Cooking classes are THE BEST. You definitely get your money's worth (and some!). Paola presents accurate information on the cultural background of each place or dish with enthusiasm and her boundless energy; as a native Mazatleca she speaks from authority and authentic experience. The last tour I took part in was packed with at least six stops at various excellent local food producers, sampling different specialties in each, as well as an exhaustive tour at the Mazatlan shrimp processing plant and a tour of the local shrimp vendors in the historic center. I would have missed all of these fabulous food experiences had I not been on the tour with Paola's. She also taught us how each dish was consumed, something we would have missed entirely without her guidance. Similarly with her cooking classes, and I have attended several; the last one was focused on the Day of the Dead feast; Paola had prepared a traditional altar, complete with all the trimmings, (to which we were invited to participate by adding personal photographs of loved ones); we enjoyed made-from-scratch tamales (one savory filled with a meat stew and one sweet with a fresh blackberry coulis), fresh salsa, mole, rice, and beans and chiken; each dish historical and cultural background was explained and cooked step-by-step with our participation. I would never have had such an enjoyable experience of Mazatlan's gastronomic riches without Paola's Tomatl fun and scholarly classes and tours. I cannot recommend it enough! I have been coming to Mexico several times a year for over a decade. Last weekend I tried my 6th experience - "Shop Like a Local". I wish I had done it sooner. I learned so much and definitely have more confidence in how to source fresh, quality ingredients as I explore all the treasures Mazatlan has to offer. If you are spending any time in Mazatlan I would highly recommend this experience.

I enjoyed this class so much! I loved Paola’s passion for cooking and I especially enjoyed learning about the history and culture of Mexican food and all its traditions. Everything was so yummy! I LOVED the TARASCA SOUP, and it’s now my favorite soup. And the Flan was so delicious! I can’t wait to make these special treats at home for my family :)
